A large Sajou Heritage and Museum chart for a large embroidery of the history of the Palace of Versailles and the kings and queens who lived there.
The embroidery is filled with visual information about the Palace, there are silhouette portraits of the Kings and Queens that lived there, details taken from the vast textile collection housed at Versailles including the wall hangings in the Hall of Plenty and Mercury Room, the Queen’s Bedchamber and the fabric pillars in the King’s Bedchamber.
The reverse of the chart has detailed instructions for working the embroidery and also includes the histories behind the motifs found in the embroidery.
The embroidery represents around 300 hours of stitching.
The pattern chart is is printed in matt and can be written on should you need to mark any references.
Size of motif: 345 stitches wide by 344 stitches high.
When embroidered on 12 count linen, the finished projects measures 57.3 x 57.5 cm.
The chart forms part of Sajous Versailles Palace Museum and Heritage collection. The Museum and Heritage collection can be found in my shop and includes; the history of Toile du Jouy, the Bayeux Tapestry, the Chenonceau Château, the history of Sajou and Tinctorial Plants.
Sajou produce haberdashery items made in France to the highest standards (in some cases even produced on the original old machinery). Perfect for gifts and collectors, and for those of you unable to resist a quality that is seldom found in today's mass produced haberdashery products.
Sajou was created in 1828 by Jaques- Simon Sajou, selling haberdashery for embroidery, tapestry, lace, crochet and weaving. His pattern albums are sought after to this day by collectors worldwide. In 2005 the Sajou brand was purchased and revived by avid collector; Frederique Crestin- Billet. Many of the old designs have been faithfully reproduced and there are some new designs that have been added in the Sajou style.
Materials: Cross Stitch Chart.
This is just the best pattern ever! It's huge but you can do a lot with it. I plan to do the silhouettes individually. I cannot wait to buy the others in the series!
