A Sajou boxed embroidery kit to make a cushion inspired by the fabric of the Petit Trianon Queen's Bedchamber.
The Petit Trianon was the designated estate of Marie-Antoinette in which she famously created a bucolic setting, full of charm and simplicity.
This is an evocation of the fabric in the Queen’s bedchamber with a design of rose bouquets and cornflowers on a white fabric.
The original fabric which covers the famous “wheat-ear furniture”, created by Georges Jacob was embroidered by Marie-Olivier Defarges, from Lyon.
Size of motif: 347 stitches wide by 266 stitches high.
When embroidered on 12 count (per cm) linen, the finished project measures 57.8 x 43 cm.
Size of finished cushion: 57.8 x 43 cm.
This kit contains:
Full-colour pattern chart printed on two 60 x 28 cm sheets of paper
12 Count off-white embroidery linen 70 x 50 cm
100% Cotton fabric 70 x 55cm for the back
13 Cards of Retors du Nord embroidery floss n°s 2023 x 3, 2033, 2180, 2409 x 2, 2443, 2445 x 2, 2535, 2536
A Sajou “Créé par moi” (Made by me) label.
The kit forms part of Sajous Versailles Palace Museum and Heritage collection. The Museum and Heritage collection can be found in my shop and includes; the history of Toile du Jouy, the Bayeux Tapestry, the Chenonceau Château, the history of Sajou and Tinctorial Plants.
Sajou produce haberdashery items made in France to the highest standards (in some cases even produced on the original old machinery). Perfect for gifts and collectors, and for those of you unable to resist a quality that is seldom found in today's mass produced haberdashery products.
Sajou was created in 1828 by Jaques- Simon Sajou, selling haberdashery for embroidery, tapestry, lace, crochet and weaving. His pattern albums are sought after to this day by collectors worldwide. In 2005 the Sajou brand was purchased and revived by avid collector; Frederique Crestin- Billet. Many of the old designs have been faithfully reproduced and there are some new designs that have been added in the Sajou style.
Materials: 32 Count Embroidery Linen, Cross Stitch Chart, Retours du Nord Embroidery Thread, Sajou Label, Gift Box.
Arrived promptly and the kit is as described.
